Notice of Proposed Local Planning Policies
Council has resolved to adopt the following Local Planning Policies pursuant to Schedule 2 of the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015 and is required to advertise the draft policies for a period of 21 days, following which Council will resolve whether or not to proceed with the policies as presented.
Proposed overview of Local Planning Policy objectives:
6.1.1 – Variations to the R-Codes
To specify local provisions which amend or replace deemed-to-comply provisions of the R-Codes to suit the local circumstances of the Shire of Harvey.
6.6.4 – Exemptions from Development Approval
To detail the specific circumstances and requirements that must be met in order for specific types of development or works to qualify for an exemption from development approval.
To exempt certain forms of minor development and works from the requirement for development approval (additional to the Deemed Provisions and Scheme), where they qualify with specified standards to minimise the risk of adverse impacts on the amenity of neighbouring properties, the streetscape or within the Shire generally.
To stimulate economic growth and employment within the Shire by reducing the regulatory burden of the planning framework for a range of compatible land uses.
Copies of the draft policies are available by clicking on the ‘Documents’ tab to the right of the screen.
Any comments on the proposed policies should be made in writing and submitted to the undersigned by no later than 4.00pm on Thursday, 23 May 2024 by email to shire@harvey.wa.gov.au or as a hard copy by post.
