Agility Equipment
Research has revealed that recent audits of over 160 dog parks undertaken in the United States, found that agility equipment is used by very few dogs. In addition, the equipment may be:
Used by children as a playground
Falls into rapid decay if misused or not used
A waste of space and money unless users are committed to using it
Located away from entry/exit points and is not suitable for puppies under 12 months as it may injure their soft bones and joints.
Dogs West – The Canine Association of WA has advised that dogs require training to be able to use agility equipment elements and that a dog can be injured should an owner not be aware of the dog’s age, weight, size, ability and training.
Therefore, agility equipment will not be considered as part of the current proposal.
