The Stage 1 Redevelopment: Yarloop Steam Workshops Interpretation Centre has re-commenced construction.
In November 2023 the Shire engaged Perkins Builders to conduct an Early Contractor Involvement Contract (ECI) as a three-phase process of documenting the condition of the existing works constructed on site, to prepare a review of costings, and review and make recommendations for finishing the project. This process has now concluded and the ECI process identified a cost-effective solution to deliver the project without compromising the intent and sticking closely to the remaining project budget with minimal requirement for a re-design phase. The recommended outcomes were presented to Council on 26 March 2024.
As a result of this outcome, the Shire engaged Perkins Builders to complete the Project under a Construction Management Contract for the following works that were in progress at the time of the site closure:
• Men's Shed Structure
• Steam Workshop Interpretive Centre
• Vault Structure
• Landscaping and external works
Once the works are completed by Perkins Builders, the Shire will continue to develop external facilities on-site such as car parking and hardstand areas.
The anticipated completion date for this stage of works is April 2025.
