Ridley Place has been a focal point for the Australind Community since the settlement of the area. For many years its development was limited to a public boat ramp, car park and ablutions. Development of a café/restaurant is in accordance with the endorsed Master Plan initially completed in 2014 and the revised in 2019.
From 2015 to 2017, improvements to the Reserve commenced and resulted in:
Construction of two new finger jetties.
Upgrade of the existing boat ramp; and
Reconfiguration and upgrade of the southern car park and construction of the northern car park.
From 2018 to 2019, further improvements were undertaken such as:
Upgrade of Old Coast Road to provide a safe crossing point into the reserve including improved streetscape: and
Provision of a sewer connection for the future the proposed kiosk/toilet/restaurant facility.
In 2019 Council signed off on the location (footprint) of café/restaurant and during the period 2019 to 2020 the following improvements were carried out:
Demolition of existing play area and construction of a new nature-based play area:
Additional seating / landscaping /paths / shelter and covered BBQ areas: and

The Department has provided a draft (indicative) approval for the development of the proposed lease area and the intended lease conditions.
A Business Case to assist the Minister for Planning Lands and Heritage in their value of the site, was provided was submitted in October 2024 and is being assessed.
The Department has requested a site survey of the lease area the café/restaurant is to occupy, and that work is presently being undertaken.
