The Sport and Recreation Plan 2033 (SRP) is the first sport and recreation strategy for the Shire of Harvey. Its aim is to provide a framework for and guidance on facility development requirements and priorities. It also provides the community and its sporting stakeholders with a detailed assessment and analysis of Shire’s sporting facility landscape. The SRP provides strategic directions and recommendations for each of the Shire’s venues and identifies future venue planning and development priorities for the next 10 years and beyond.

The SRP will be an important tool to direct future resource priorities, major projects and initiatives that support participation in community sport and active recreation. It will also serve as a blueprint to grow and improve local sporting infrastructure, facilities and reserves in service of the Harvey Region’s projected population growth.

Sport and Recreation Plan 2033 is presented in two parts. Part A, is a public publication that sets the plan for the future. Part B, provides the research and supporting information used to develop and drive projects and actions in the plan. Key documents provide the detailed analysis including needs and feasibility assessments and concept plans that support the Sport and Recreation Plan 2033. There has been a significant level of community consultation and stakeholder engagement over an 18-month period and a final 21-days of public comment, with this feedback used to develop the plan. All key documents are provided in the documents section on this page.

Council have requested that the Sport and Recreation Plan 2033 is workshopped with the Sport and Recreation Advisory Group and Council before being presented for final endorsement early in 2024. These workshops are scheduled for:

Sport and Recreation Advisory Group meeting Thursday 30 November 2023 at 6pm, and

Council Workshop 5 December 2023

Report to Council 30 January 2024

The Shire continues to look forward to partnering with the 41 local clubs and associations, state sporting associations, industry and other stakeholders to finalise and move forward with this critical plan for action for the community.
